I always wished for you.
For the saving-
For the rescue
And the ride into the brilliant.
I wasn’t dressed in rags
But I still thought with my heart
And dreamt with the clouds.

And never realized the damp
Rot of weeds
Was so apparent.

The princes all showed up-
One by one
On the quest to find queen.

I didn’t fit that skeleton-
Or did too well.
I got the following steps imprinted in my mind
And the memory of ease-
Pathetic and sickly.

Never look too closely.
The stories are always as they seem
And I never realized
That the earth
Could still tug like that-
Beyond tides and moons

The end is always plain-
Foolish
When already
The princess is born dead.
